The Wayzata Education Fund (WEF) is a 501c3 nonprofit organization supporting Wayzata Public School (WPS) students by providing District teachers and staff with monetary grants for innovative teaching programs.

WEF has awarded over 400 grants and provided over $450,000 to WPS teachers and staff, grants that have improved the teaching methods and classroom experience for WPS for over 20 years. Some of the grants that WEF has recently funded include structural design “mola models” for architecture students; improved library book selection for our elementary schools; diverse mannequins for the health science pathway program at Wayzata High School; and upgrades to the physical fitness equipment at Wayzata High School.

WEF raises all the money it grants to WPS through various community fundraisers. WEF is celebrating our 20th anniversary with a gala celebration on Saturday, February 3, at the Wayzata Country Club. The gala is our main fundraiser, and we hope to raise over $50,000 for our community. The gala will be a fun, festive night out with a plated dinner, games, music, and a brief program. We hope you will join us! Tickets can be purchased on our website at wayzataedfund.org.

WEF’s other fundraiser is the Highlight-a-Hero program that honors WPS staff and teachers for the work that they do for our students. Each December and May, WEF offers the Wayzata community the opportunity to donate to WEF in honor of a WPS staff member that has made an impact on their student or in their community. All donations will be recognized with a certificate of appreciation to the honored staff member. Donations of $25 or more will also include a small bundt cake, courtesy of WEF’s partnership with Nothing Bundt Cakes Minnetonka. The Highlight-a-Hero program is a great way to recognize the work that WPS staff do for Wayzata students day in and day out. Information about Highlight-a-Hero can be found on our website or in various Wayzata School District communications.

WEF is an all-volunteer run organization, and we are always looking for new members to help our community. If you are interested in learning more about WEF, please contact info@wayzataedfund.org or visit our website at wayzataedfund.org.
