Spring is here! It’s time to clean out your garages and medicine cabinets. The City of Medina makes it easy to get rid of your unwanted items at our annual Spring Clean-up Day on Saturday, April 28th from 8 a.m. to Noon at the Public Works/Police Facility at 600 Clydesdale Trail.

Unwanted Items: Bring your old appliances, televisions, electronics, batteries, anti-freeze, tires, and scrap metal to be recycled. Old carpet, building materials, furniture, mattresses, and other household bulky garbage will be accepted in the dump pile.

Some items can be dropped off at no charge such as scrap metal, computer towers, laptops, small handheld devices, anti-freeze, and batteries; other items have a small disposal fee. Please visit the city’s website at: http://medinamn.us/cleanupday/ for pricing and a list of accepted and not accepted items.

Medicine Disposal: Medina Police, along with Hennepin County Sheriff’s office, will conduct a prescription drug take back program at this year’s Spring Clean-up Day. Proper disposal of prescription drugs helps reduce crime, addresses the opioid epidemic and reduces the environmental effects on our water supply. Please bring in your unused and expired prescription drugs for free disposal. No needles, sharps or syringes will be accepted. Questions on medicine disposal can be direct to the Medina Police Department at 763-473-9209.

Bicycle Collection: Do you have any good useable bicycles in your garage? Bring them to clean-up day to donate to Interfaith Outreach Community Partners. The bicycles will be tuned-up and/or refurbished to be given to families in need.

Buy Trees: Medina residents can buy trees at a discounted rate of $15 each, beginning at 8 a.m. The trees are bare root stock and approximately 1” in diameter and 6-8’ tall. Additional information on tree sales can be found at: http://medinamn.us/cleanupday/.

Plant Milkweed Seeds: Pick up your free packet of milkweed seeds and plant the seeds in your yard to help the monarch butterflies.

Enjoy a Free Hot Dog: It is tradition for the Mayor to grill hotdogs for our residents free of charge. Hotdogs, chips, and pop are served from 10 a.m. to Noon.
