It may be cold outside, but let’s not let the cold stop us from enjoying Medina’s winter amenities and community events. Bundle up and take in the cold crisp fresh air, while sledding and ice skating in Hamel Legion Park, cross country skiing at Baker Park Reserve, or while attending the Freeze Your Buns Run on February 3rd.
Hamel Legion Park is a popular destination for winter fun! The snow on the sledding hill is better than ever with the use of the city’s new snow machine to keep snow from melting on warmer winter days. The warming house attached to the Hamel Community Building is open all season long as a place to get skates/gear on and off, while escaping from the cold. Restrooms are also available.
The Hamel Lions Club will be hosting the 16th Annual Super Bowl Freeze Your Buns 5k Run & Walk on Sunday, February 3rd at 9:45 a.m. in Uptown Hamel. Go online to register at https://www.hamellions.org/freeze-your-buns or register the day of the event at the Hamel Community Building, 3200 Mill Drive. The Hamel Lions will also be serving a Pancake Breakfast on Super Bowl Sunday from 8 a.m. to Noon at the Hamel V.F.W. Breakfast is $8 for adults and $5 for kids under 10 years old. The 5K Run & Walk and Pancake Breakfast are staffed by volunteers and all proceeds go back into our community.
Three Rivers Park District’s Baker Park Reserve in Medina also offers a number of winter amenities. Cross Country ski trails, snowshoe trails, equipment rental, ice fishing access, sledding, skijoring, dog sledding, and snowmobile trails are just some of their winter activities.
