The Hamel Rodeo Parade Sunday, July 10, 2021

This year’s parade will be Sunday, July 11th at 2:00 pm.  The Parade will start on Hunter Drive and Elm Creek, will go North to Hamel Road and then east on Hamel Road ending at the VFW. 

Jim Heimerl, Hamel VFW Commander and Grand Marshal for the Hamel Lions 2021 Rodeo Parade.

Jim Heimerl, our Hamel VFW Commander, will be Grand Marshal for the Hamel Lions 2021 Rodeo Parade. Jim grew up in St. Paul, went to St. Agnes High School and enlisted and served in the Marine Corps from 1966-1968. He served as a Marine machine gunner in Vietnam from August 1966-May 1967. He was wounded on 3 separate occasions and was awarded 3 Purple Hearts. In the late fall of 1966, he was listed as Missing In Action (MIA). Jim is a Life Member of The Purple Heart, VFW, American Legion and Disabled Veterans. He also served as a Director of the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Minnesota Special Olympics from 1991-1997. He continues to serve as a member of the Ft. Snelling Memorial Rifle Squad since 2012 and is the Commander of the Hamel VFW since 2015. We thank Jim for his service to our country!

Hamel Hawks 

Also, lights for the first time are being installed on Paul Fortin Memorial Field. Hawks are excited about that. Major upgrades to the field are coming in 2022-2023.
