Phyllis Diane Doboszenski, co-founder of Dobo’s Cafe & Bakeshop and longtime owner of Doboszenski and Sons Inc, passed away peacefully this past Sunday, March 22.

She was loved by everyone who knew her and will be greatly missed by the entire community.

A story about Dobo’s Cafe and Bakeshop has been pending since late 2019 when she fell ill, the family had hoped she would be well enough to be involved in the final photo shoot. The story is forthcoming in a future issue of LocalTies.

Below is the obituary the family posted with Iten Funeral Home. Our thoughts and prayers to the entire Doboszenski family.

“Phyllis was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt and friend to so many. She had a great capacity to love and a golden heart. She was a longtime business owner of Doboszenski and Sons Inc. and Dobo’s Café where she was known as “Mrs. Dobo”. Phyllis loved to bake and cook. She made a mean batch of cookies and there is not a Doctor or nurse in the five-state area that has not had one of her delicious baked goods. This love was only surpassed by her love of family and friends. (She loved us more than ice cream!) She was a lifelong member of Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Loretto, Minnesota where she cooked for the school children for several years and was on the school board, parish council and funeral committee. She was a cub scout leader as well as a coach taking the junior softball “Honey Bees” to state winning first place. She had a special devotion to the Eucharist and to our Blessed Mother. Phyllis was a very humble and giving person to so many; never looking for recognition, just always wanting to give and help where ever needed.

Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents Mathew and Laura (Gagne) Oeffling; sister Janet LaFave;
Survived by husband Kenneth of 58 years; children Doug (Terri) Doboszenski, Tim (Beth) Doboszenski, Randy (Sandy) Doboszenski, Dan Doboszenski, Jody (Peter) Chorley, Jill (Chris) Thomas; 17 grandchildren; Beau (Jessica) Doboszenski, Laura (Tim) Lahti, Molly (John) Policinski, Rob Doboszenski, Ashley (Kurt) Schumm, Amanda Doboszenski, Amber Doboszenski, Alyssa ( Travis) Heinz, Shelby Martinson, Vince Chorley, Nick Chorley, Adam Chorley, Alex Chorley, Matt Thomas, Abby Thomas, Cody Thomas, Halle Thomas, 11 great grandchildren; sisters Joyce Koch, Joanne Lenneman, Peg (Tony) Doboszenski, Nancy (Mike) Dobratz.
